Nottingham Forest have contacted Sao Paulo over the signing of Pablo Maia, with West Ham and Fulham also keen on the midfielder.

According to journalist Andre Hernan, the Reds are the latest club to make themselves known to Sao Paulo as a potential suitor this summer.

Forest have been warned though. It’s claimed that the Brazilian top-flight outfit will only do business for £11 million for their star performer.

Selling him is something they are keen to do though, with Sao Paulo keen to raise some funds by offloading some of their star players.

The player would likely jump at the chance to move to the Premier League. It has been claimed previously that Maia dreams of playing in Europe.

Forest have had some serious success with the signing of Brazilian players this season.

Renan Lodi, Danilo and Felipe have all been brilliant for the Reds, with Gustavo Scarpa also showing glimpses of brilliance.

Now Maia appears to be next on the hit list of South American imports and perhaps Forest can pounce if they remain in the Premier League.

New midfielders will likely be sought next season, with Forest likely to have a summer reshuffle.

The Reds have Cheikhou Kouyate and Remo Freuler who are both in their thirties and both of those players could leave regardless of where Forest are playing next season.

This would be a pretty tidy signing for the Reds to make during the summer transfer window if they’re still a Premier League club.

During his time at Sao Paulo, he’s made 78 appearances and scored four goals as a defensive midfielder.

The youngster is set for a bright future and he’d complement the current squad just nicely and he’d also bring the average age of the squad down.

Signing him won’t be particularly difficult with his current club seemingly resigning themselves to the fact that he’s set to leave.

The big ask will be to fight off West Ham and Fulham with both of the clubs based in London.

If Forest can convince him of regular first-team football, however, it would surely be an attractive proposition to sign for a club where the Brazilian contingent is very strong.
