Sky Sports pundit Jamie Carragher has selected Nottingham Forest star Morgan Gibbs-White as his signing of the season in the Premier League.

The Reds forward has been in remarkable form of late and now has five goals and seven assists during the 2022/23 campaign.

He teed up Taiwo Awoniyi on Saturday to score the game’s only goal as Forest beat Arsenal.

Gibbs-White is Forest’s club-record signing and at 23-years-old, it’s quite scary how good he could become.

Steve Cooper made the player his number-one transfer target after Forest won promotion last May, having worked with him in the England under-17 setup and at Swansea.

Carragher doesn’t just think he’s the signing of the season but he thinks an England call-up is on the cards too.

The pundit told Monday Night Football: “I was debating over two players today. I’m going to do a live change and go for Morgan Gibbs-White.

“I wouldn’t say he’s single-handedly kept Forest up but every time I watch him…he’s justified his price tag.

“I really do believe he should be in the next England squad. I’m going to go for Morgan Gibbs-White.”

The pundit has spoken quite fondly about Forest on several occasions this season and he’s at it again.

Carragher originally chose Manuel Akanji as his signing of the season but he changed his mind live on air.

Gibbs-White has been brilliant in recent weeks, kicking on when Forest really needed him the most.

Next season, the Reds can look forward to keeping hold of their better players and that includes the likes of Gibbs-White.

Had the club been relegated, they’d have been at the mercy of other clubs and they might well have been forced to sell him.

Now, the club has a real chance to build on this season and add even more quality to the players already at Cooper’s disposal.
