Alan Shearer has lauded Joe Worrall for his performance for Nottingham Forest against Arsenal, naming him in the Premier League Team of the Week.
The Reds’ captain was in fine form as Forest beat the Gunners. A 1-0 home win ensured survival for the club and also ended Arsenal’s title aspirations.

Worrall has endured a bit of a frustrating season. He’s not been deemed first choice for much of the campaign and all of his frustration came out at the end on Saturday.
The Forest star was remarkable against the Gunners. It was arguably the best performance he’s ever made in the Garibaldi and the tears flowed at the end.
One thing not lacking from Worrall’s repertoire of attributes is passion. He cares deeply about the football club and nobody can ever knock him for that.
On Saturday, Shearer was impressed with Worrall. He lauded him for his efforts as he managed to keep Gabriel Jesus quiet during a fine victory.
The pundit told the Premier League: “He played a huge part in keeping Nottingham Forest up, playing a key role in the clean sheet during a 1-0 win over Arsenal.”
Shearer has lauded Worrall and on Saturday he was brilliant for Forest
It wasn’t long ago that fans were questioning whether Worrall was on his final chance at the City Ground. His form this season has been sporadic and some have questioned him.
On Saturday, he showcased that if he continues learning, he can be a useful player at this level. He was calm, composed and epitomised everything that a captain should be.

Worrall has served Forest with distinction over the years. He’s made 216 appearances for the club, with 33 of those coming this season.
The club captain will want to play more frequently next season. If he can replicate his form against Arsenal on a consistent basis then he will quickly become a mainstay during 2023/24.
