BBC Sport pundit Garth Crooks has heaped praise on Nottingham Forest star Morgan Gibbs-White. The Reds star was in fine form on Saturday as the team beat Arsenal to secure Premier League survival.
The 23-year-old has been magnificent this season. He’s grown as the season progressed and has currently scored five goals and registered seven assists during the 2022/23 campaign.
Gibbs-White’s form has seen him mentioned in the running for an England call-up. However, he’s had to settle for a place in the under-21s once again as they prepare to attempt European Championship glory.
The player has been the creative spark in the Forest team all season. But for some wayward finishing earlier in the campaign, he’d actually be sat on way more assists for the current campaign.
Wolves fans mocked Forest when they paid a fee that could rise to £42.5 million in the summer. In keeping the club’s head above water, however, he’s proved worth his weight in gold.
Crooks was desperately impressed with the player at the weekend. He’s raved about him and named him in his Team of the Week.
He told BBC Sport: “Forest have shown extraordinary resilience, especially in the latter part of the season and none more so than Morgan Gibbs-White.
“His enthusiasm for the game and sheer will to win has spread through the team like wildfire.”
Crooks heaped praise on Forest star Gibbs-White and bigger things will come
It’s a shame that Gibbs-White didn’t get the nod to make the England squad this time around. However, his time will come and perhaps the goal this summer is to win the European Championships with the under-21s.
Forest can now look forward to keeping hold of their top players. Gibbs-White was an amazing signing made last summer and he was Steve Cooper’s top target after promotion to the Premier League.
The 23-year-old has enjoyed his current campaign. He’s spoken about how much he loves playing in front of the Reds supporters and there will be more to come from the Forest player.
