Nottingham Forest forward Gustavo Scarpa has absolutely no intention of leaving the City Ground this summer. The 29-year-old has been at the club since January but his dream move has become a bit of a nightmare.

Scarpa signed for the Reds from Palmeiras during the mid-season transfer window. It was a move that had actually been agreed on last summer but the player wanted to stay in Brazil for the title push.

It proved a good decision by Scarpa as he had a season to remember. He arrived at the City Ground having lifted the Golden Ball accolade given to the best player for that particular campaign.

His time at Forest seemed to start in decent fashion. He was particularly good during a game against Leicester at the City Ground and it looked as though he’d prove to be a useful signing.

Off-the-field matters hampered his progress, however. He was involved in a scamming incident and that saw him return to Brazil for a little while and when he returned he picked up an unfortunate injury.

Scarpa hasn’t played since coming on as a late substitute during a game against Leeds United in early April. In total, he’s failed to register a goal contribution in 10 outings for the Reds.

There has been some suggestion that he might be leaving the club. Brazilian journalist Jorge Nicola has claimed on his YouTube channel that the notion is simply not true regarding Scarpa.

He said that the player is desperate to make a proper go of things in Europe. The suggestion is also that Scarpa intends on seeing his contract out at the City Ground before possibly heading back to South America.

Scarpa has no intention of leaving Forest

This is good news from a Forest perspective. Scarpa has yet to really settle to life in the Premier League but he has the attributes and the personality to still prove himself as a success story.

Scarpa will benefit from a full pre-season in England. Hopefully, he can recover from the injury that curtailed his 2022/23 campaign and come back with a serious point to prove next season.

The player was buzzing when he first checked in at the City Ground. The news that he’s still happy at the club is positive and supporters will hope they can see a bit more of Scarpa during 2023/24.
