Nottingham Forest are in advanced talks to sign Dean Henderson and if they land him they will likely kill off two emerging transfer rumours. The Reds are hoping to sign the Manchester United man on a permanent basis, with other goalkeepers on the radar.

According to Lazio Siamo Noi, the Reds want two other stoppers too. Luis Maximiano from Lazio and Sampdoria custodian Emil Audero are also thought to be on the radar at the City Ground ahead of the summer transfer window.

Surely these two links are purely options if anything should happen with a deal for Henderson. It’s been claimed that the deal will go through for the United stopper as soon as David de Gea has penned his new contract to remain at Old Trafford.

Both of the apparent backup options were linked with Forest in the winter transfer window. Aduero in particular was thought to be close to signing but he wanted to help Sampdoria try and avoid relegation.

The pair of stoppers could both leave their existing clubs this summer. Interestingly if Maximiano does leave Lazio, they will target Audero who will be on the move after Sampdoria’s relegation.

It seems highly unlikely either will end up at Forest though. The Reds want to sign Henderson and they seem pretty confident that the deal will take place this summer.

Audero and Maximiano are both good stoppers but they’re not Henderson. The United man knows the club having spent time on loan and the fans want that deal to take place.

Forest might pursue another stopper this summer. However, it’s unlikely that these two would come to the City Ground knowing that they wouldn’t be the first choice.

The Reds have Wayne Hennessey under contract for next season. He’s made a handful of appearances during 2022/23 and he’s never let anyone down.

As a result, it would make sense for the Welshman to continue as the number two. If the club does sign another goalkeeper expect it to be a younger stopper with one eye on the future.
