Nottingham Forest defender Serge Aurier has posted a heartwarming message to Zlatan Ibrahimovic on his Instagram story. The sensational forward has called quits on a brilliant playing career, making the announcement after AC Milan’s final game of the season on Sunday.

Aurier has posted a 22-word message to his former teammate. The pair spent time on the same side when they played for PSG and clearly, the Forest man learned a lot from the Swedish great.

Ibrahimovic will go down as one of the very best to ever play the game. His time with Aurier at PSG was a successful period and with the Parisians, he scored 156 goals in 180 appearances.

He’s played for some of the world’s biggest clubs during his career. AC Milan, Inter, Ajax, Juventus, Barcelona, Manchester United and Malmo make up his European CV. Los Angeles Galaxy were also fortunate enough to have him for a short time.

Injuries have forced Ibrahimovic into this huge call. He’s made just four appearances for AC Milan this season and he made the announcement during an emotional speech at the San Siro on Sunday.

This was an emotional response from the Forest man. He’s posted a 22-word message on his Instagram story, speaking of his pride at previously being a teammate of the player.

It read: “Thank you for everything you have brought to football. It was a pleasure to play with you and good luck for the future.”

Aurier has just signed up for another season at Forest. He joined on a free transfer shortly after the summer transfer window of 2022 and proved a wonderful signing.

The 30-year-old has been quality for the Reds. He made 24 appearances for the Reds and helped them secure Premier League survival with a game to spare.

Next season, the Reds will aim to avoid second-season syndrome. With Aurier in fine form again, and a few more quality signings, Forest should be capable of kicking on.
