Renan Lodi will train with Athletico Paranense this summer and he looks to stay in shape, with Nottingham Forest still hoping to re-sign him. The Reds had the Brazilian on loan during the 2022/23 campaign and the supporters warmed to him.
According to Brazilian journalist Monique Silva, Lodi will now train with his former club to stay in shape this summer. It’s not expected at this stage that anything more will happen, with the player due back with Atletico Madrid for pre-season training.

The 25-year-old was a very decent addition to the Forest squad during 2022/23. He took some time to get going at the City Ground but ultimately he was largely impressive during his 32 appearances on Trentside.
Forest did include an option to buy him for £25 million this summer. However, that chance has now passed and Forest will need to negotiate another price with Atletico.
After Forest secured their Premier League survival, Lodi broke down in tears. The emotion of achieving the club’s goal combined with the fact that he’s not been with his family in England all good too much.

That aspect could have an impact on any permanent deal. Clearly, he has much to think about in the summer and it remains to be seen what the future holds for the player.
Lodi to train with Athletico Paranense as he ponders Forest move
Forest will try and sign Lodi again this summer. However, the club have said for some time that they’re not willing to pay £25 million and will try to negotiate a cheaper price.
It would be great for Forest to try and get Lodi back to the club. He was in fine form during the second half of the campaign and ultimately he’s a quality player.

The player’s wishes will need to be taken into consideration here. He may have a desire to remain closer to his family and that could open the door for Paranense.
Either way, he will use the club where he made 50 appearances as a training base this summer. Then, he will have to decide whether he views Forest as his permanent home or not.
