Nottingham Forest are hoping to secure a bargain deal to sign Batista Mendy this summer. The Reds aren’t alone in the chase, with Everton and Wolves also keen on the defensive midfielder.

Mendy has become a mainstay in the Angers team. He’s made 73 appearances, scoring once and also registering one assist, with the defensive side of the game considered more his remit.

Now, according to L’Equipe, Mendy will be a wanted man this summer. Forest have been linked, whilst Mainz, Everton, Wolves and Valencia also thought to be considering a move for the player.

Mendy has a contract with Angers until 2024. As a result, they could be tempted to cash in on one of their prized assets during the transfer window which is about to open this month.

It’s claimed that his current club want around £5 million to secure his services. However, the three Premier League clubs are hoping to snare him at a cheaper price.

Forest keen on cut-price Mendy deal

The youngster has showcased a combative nature at times during the current campaign. He’s collected six yellow cards and his tough-tackling approach could be what Forest fancy signing.

Mendy would probably provide a cheap midfield player ahead of next season. Angers will need to sell some players following their relegation and a bargain could be on the cards.

The midfielder has a host of clubs looking at him ahead of the summer transfer window. In 2017, he was linked with a move to Arsenal but they ultimately decided to go for other options.

A previous report has claimed that a deal could take place at £3.5 million and that really would be an attractive price. It would be a drop in the ocean for the Reds and perhaps this deal is one that could get over the line.

The report doesn’t say which of the three Premier League clubs are best positioned to complete the signing. However, it’s suggested that player would prefer to move to England if he was to leave Angers.
