The agent of Renan Lodi has given some hope to Nottingham Forest when it comes to the left-back signing for the Reds. Last week, it was claimed in some sections of the media that the 25-year-old wanted to play Champions League football.
During 2022/23, Lodi adhered himself to the Forest supporters with a string of fine performances. He made 32 appearances for the Reds in total and grew as a player throughout the season.

Signing him on a permanent basis won’t be easy though. It was initially thought that Forest would try and negotiate a cheaper price than the £25 million they included in the original loan deal.
Lodi’s wife gave birth to their first child during his time at Forest. That situation proved tricky, with his family not joining him in England and the left-back missing the first few months with his child.
Despite reports last week suggesting that a move to Benfica or back to Brazil was in the offing, his agent has seemingly dismissed the notion of him returning to his homeland.
Pablo Miranda who represents Lodi told Mundo Deportivo: “Renan has three more years on his contract with Atletico. It’s practically impossible for him to return to Brazilian football. Renan’s goal is to compete at the highest possible level and in Europe.”

This deal would still be a hard one to complete from a Forest perspective. The Reds would love to sign Lodi on a permanent basis but the deal has lots of factors to take into consideration.
These comments do at least provide some optimism from Forest’s point of view. It’s clear that he will stay in Europe and at 24, it would be pretty nonsensical for him to return to Brazil.

Forest will need a left-back this summer. Harry Toffolo is largely considered as a backup option; whilst Omar Richards hasn’t played for over a year and utilising him would represent a risk
These comments are exactly what Forest fans wanted to hear. The one worry, however, is that his future could rumble on a little bit yet and the Reds might want their business done early this summer.
