Nottingham Forest have reignited their interest in signing Sampdoria goalkeeper Emil Audero. The stopper is set to leave the Italian club this summer following their relegation from Serie A.
According to Il Mattino, the Reds have now revived their interest in the experienced custodian. Forest tried to sign Audero during the January window but the player wanted to help Sampdoria fight relegation.

Forest aren’t on their own in the race to sign the 26-year-old. It was claimed last week that Champions League finalists Inter could move to land the goalkeeper who seems set to leave.
Audero has a contract in Italy until 2026. With financial uncertainties hanging over the relegated side, however, they could be willing to cash in on their star player for £8.5 million.
The stopper has been with Sampdoria since 2018 when he signed on an initial loan from Juventus. He has quickly established himself at the club, making 169 appearances and keeping 38 clean sheets.
Being relegated will make life very difficult for Sampdoria to keep hold of their star players. Audero is keen to remain in a top-flight and Napoli are also keen on signing the man who played 10 times for the Italy under-21 outfit.
Forest reignite interest in Audero
This would perhaps be a surprise signing, especially if Forest still land Dean Henderson as expected. The Manchester United man doesn’t want to play second fiddle and would definitely be the number-one stopper.
Likewise, Audero will want to play regular football. At 26, he’s approaching his prime just as Henderson is and he won’t fancy heading anywhere where he’s not going to be the first choice.

Audero would be a safe pair of hands. He has lots of experience in the top flight in Italy and he’d surely relish the chance to prove himself in England with a Premier League club.
Forest will still have a desire to sign Henderson this summer. With Wayne Hennessey at the club, perhaps a deal for Audero will only happen if there is a problem with the United man heading to the City Ground.
