Nottingham Forest transfer target Callum Hudson-Odoi has told Chelsea that he is now keen to leave Stamford Bridge this summer. The Reds along with Fulham and AC Milan are thought to be keen.

According to The Athletic, the player has now informed his current employers of his desire to seek a new challenge for next season.

It was claimed earlier today that Chelsea might not be too fussed about selling him and have indicated a willingness to cancel his contract.

That would be perfect for Forest. He’s currently earning £120,000-a-week at Chelsea and being able to snare him on a free transfer would make him a really attractive proposition to the Reds.

Hudson-Odoi is a player that Forest boss Steve Cooper knows all about. He was part of the England under-17 squad that won the World Cup in 2017 and he an instrumental part of the team under the Reds’ head coach.

The 22-year-old has fallen off the radar a little bit at Chelsea. It’s fair to say he’s not lived up to his potential just yet and last season he spent the season on loan with Bayer Leverkusen.

During his time in the Bundesliga, he sampled European football. In total, he played 21 times for the club, scoring once and also registering a single assist.

Hudson-Odoi has made 126 outings for Chelsea, netting 16 goals and claiming 22 assists. He can play on either flank and on his day, he could still be a real asset in the Premier League.

Glenn Hoddle has served Chelsea as a player and a manager. Who knows a thing about being skilful and he previously called Hudson-Odoi ‘remarkable’ after a 5-0 Champions League win over Dynamo Kieve back in 2019.

Forest could get Hudson-Odoi for free

This would be an astonishing signing for Forest. Buying him would be a good piece of business but getting him for free would be the tip of the iceberg.

The latest report from The Athletic, however, suggests that Chelsea still want to recoup a fee. At this stage, however, it’s not clear what that particular fee would be.

Forest might just be able to tempt Hudson-Odoi to sign terms at the City Ground. The Chelsea man might just have earmarked Cooper as the manager who can help him rediscover his very best form, whilst he’s also played alongside Morgan Gibbs-White.

The Reds are yet to sign anyone this summer for their senior ranks. Hudson-Odoi would represent a great start to the transfer window and the fact he wants to leave should now intensify this particular situation.
