This will delight the Forest fan base. Since the end of last season, with Premier League survival secured, the faithful have been keeping everything crossed that Henderson returns on a permanent deal.

The situation with David de Gea has recently thrown a spanner in the works. He’s set to walk away from Old Trafford as a free agent and the Red Devils are prioritising a move for Inter stopper Onana.

Erik ten Hag has identified the goalkeeper as a replacement for De Gea. United have made an opening bid of £38.6 million for the stopper and they will await a response.

Henderson will train with United until Forest get the green light to sign him. It seems clear that he wants to move and now this report from The Athletic claims that the deal remains in place.

It’s no longer considered news that Forest have a deal in place for Henderson. Laurie Whitwell who reports this, however, does have his finger on the pulse at Old Trafford.

Henderson was brilliant for Forest last season. He kept six clean sheets in 20 appearances and also saved penalties from Harry Kane and Declan Rice.

Sander Berge called Henderson ‘insane’ when he played alongside him at Sheffield United. Hopefully, Henderson can earn even more rave reviews at the City Ground during the 2023/24 campaign.

Onana helped Inter reach the Champions League Final last season. Now, he might just hold the aces in terms of Forest landing one of their top summer targets in Henderson.
