Besiktas would like to sign Nottingham Forest forward Gustavo Scarpa on a season-long loan and have submitted an offer. The Brazilian only arrived at the City Ground in January but has failed to really showcase his massive potential.

According to Skorer, the Turkish outfit want the versatile forward ahead of the new campaign. It’s not clear at this stage, however, whether Forest would sanction a temporary departure for Scarpa.

Scarpa checked in during the January transfer window after helping Palmeiras win the Brazilian title. The 29-year-old had agreed to move to Forest shortly after their play-off final victory but wanted to see the season out.

The player was bang in form before he made the switch to Forest. He scored 13 goals and registered 15 assists, winning the Golden Ball for his efforts in the top flight of Brazil’s domestic league.

Scarpa has caught the eye among supporters for his antics off the field. He’s usually found at one of Nottingham’s skate parks or casually completing a rubix cube in around 27 seconds.

The left-footed player typically likes to get at defenders and take them on. In January he caught the eye of Ian Wright during a 2-0 win over Leicester; with the pundit calling him ‘excellent’.

Besiktas want Forest forward Scarpa

The Reds must be careful with this one. Steve Cooper is hardly blessed with many forwards who boast the skills that Scarpa has and perhaps Forest will need to sign a replacement first.

Letting the player out on loan might not be a bad idea. He’s only made 10 appearances for the Reds and at this stage, he’s failed to register a goal contribution.

Scarpa has been trying his hardest but off the field, things haven’t been easy for him at Forest. He was subjected to a huge scam that required him to head back to Brazil; whilst he also finished the season on the treatment table.

Pre-season looks like being big for Scarpa. If he can’t prove himself to Cooper during that period, perhaps Besiktas might be allowed to take the player for the 2023/24 campaign.
