Nottingham Forest transfer target Renan Lodi is now running out of options as he looks to leave Atletico Madrid. The Reds are keen to re-sign their loan star from last season but the £20 million price tag is putting off several clubs.

According to Marca, the player is now in limbo somewhat. Marseille have recently pulled out of the race; whilst Benfica would love to sign him but don’t want to part with the current valuation.

The Reds are keen to re-sign the player but they want to ensure they get the best price too. Forest have already let an option to sign Lodi for £25 million expire following his loan last season.

It was claimed yesterday that Lodi was training with the Atletico Madrid youth team. That simply won’t do and he will now hope for a resolution on his future extremely soon.

Lodi was brilliant for the Reds last season. He initially struggled to adapt to the Premier League but following the break for the World Cup, he was absolutely excellent and held the left-back spot down.

The 16-cap Brazil international made 32 appearances for the Reds. He scored a single goal against Tottenham in the Carabao Cup and also registered one assist.

Forest target Lodi is now running out of options for summer transfer

It’s quite remarkable that some clubs don’t fancy paying £20 million for a player like Lodi. He’s a proven performer at this level and the price doesn’t seem overly high.

Forest would dearly love to see Lodi back at the football club. The Reds do need a left-back, with Omar Richards and Harry Toffolo currently at the club.

Lodi was a firm fan favourite at the City Ground. As a result, the supporters would definitely love to see him back at Forest.

This could actually be good news for Forest. If clubs are pulling out left, right and centre, the Reds could have a free run at signing Lodi this summer.
