Nottingham Forest are set for a European tour for their pre-season plans in 2023. So, here is everything you need to know about what Steve Cooper’s City Ground side have scheduled.

The Reds are preparing for their second season back in the Premier League in 2023/24 after securing a 16th-place finish. Cooper ensured another campaign of top-flight football for the City Ground side after Nottingham Forest beat Arsenal 1-0 in both sides’ penultimate game.

Cooper will hope their strong end to the term and their pre-season plans this summer form a platform for Nottingham Forest to build on. This summer can also give those on the fringes of Nottingham Forest’s first-team squad the chance to impress ahead of the 23/24 season.

When does Nottingham Forest’s pre-season start?

Cooper instructed the City Ground club’s first-team squad and those in Nottingham Forest’s academy to return to their Wilford Lane training ground to begin pre-season on July 3, 2023. Forgotten Reds star Omar Richards was also in attendance after his injury-plagued season.

As of July 12, Nottingham Forest have planned seven pre-season friendlies for Cooper’s side in the summer of 2023. The Reds have also confirmed that the seven-game schedule will be the City Ground natives’ fixture list before the start of the 2023/24 Premier League season.

Nottingham Forest only confirmed their first pre-season friendly for 2023 on May 29 with a trip to Notts County. Cooper’s team will pay another visit to Meadow Lane after a 2-2 draw in 2022. This summer will see the Magpies preparing for League Two after winning promotion.

The Reds also built up their pre-season plans on June 5 with the confirmation of Nottingham Forest facing PSV Eindhoven. They will travel to the Netherlands to face the Eredivisie giants, who finished second in 22/23. Forest also hoped to hold another friendly in the Netherlands.

Further European top-flight opposition does feature on Nottingham Forest’s fixture list after they confirmed friendlies with Stade Rennais and Eintracht Frankfurt on June 14. The Reds will host Rennes in a behind-closed-doors tie at St George’s Park before flying to Germany.

Stade Rennais and Eintracht Frankfurt will also follow a training camp in Spain, during which Nottingham Forest will hold further pre-season friendlies against Valencia and Levante. The Reds confirmed the behind-closed-doors training games with the Spanish sides on June 26.

Nottingham Forest added one final fixture to their pre-season plans on July 12 with a trip to Burton Albion’s Pirelli Stadium to face Leeds United. The teams sought a neutral location as both develop their respective stadiums. Both teams also won a game each during 2022/23.

How to watch Nottingham Forest’s 2023 pre-season fixtures

Nottingham Forest have confirmed that UK fans can watch six of their pre-season friendlies in 2023 via Forest TV. The Reds cannot stream their match with Eintracht Frankfurt owing to the EFL season starting on the same date. Fans can instead watch a replay of the full fixture.

A pre-season bundle of Nottingham Forest’s friendlies through Forest TV costs £24.99. But international fans can buy single-game passes to stream their fixtures against Notts County, Valencia, Levante, Leeds and Rennes for £4.99 each. Only UK fans can stream their PSV tie.

Tickets for Nottingham Forest’s summer schedule

Fans can buy tickets for a majority of Nottingham Forest’s pre-season friendlies in 2023. But the Reds sold out their full allocation of tickets for the club’s trip to Notts County on June 29.

PSV Eindhoven also informed Nottingham Forest on July 7 that away fans cannot buy tickets for their pre-season friendly. Dutch authorities enforced the decision against the best efforts by the Reds to overturn their decision. Forest expected to put all tickets on sale in early July.
