Nottingham Forest transfer target Romain Saiss is now pushing for a summer transfer as he bids to leave Besiktas. The Reds have been linked with the player since January and it remains to be seen whether they still hold an interest now.

According to Foot Mercato, there are a number of factors for the centre-back now pushing to move on. However, Besiktas appear to be playing hardball over his departure and appear keen to keep him.

Saiss has been with the Turkish outfit since the start of last season. The 33-year-old made 26 appearances for the club during 2022/23 but it was perhaps his heroics at the World Cup that caught the eye.

The intelligent centre-back was part of the Morocco side that created history. Playing for the Atlas Lions, he helped them become the first African nation to reach the last four of the World Cup.

Saiss is now a wanted man, with Forest previously in the mix. It would seem as though the player is keen to get his future resolved and he’s keen to move to a new club pretty quickly.

The player has bags of experience in England. He spent several years at Wolves, helping them win promotion and then establish themselves as a Premier League club.

Forest target Saiss wants quick exit from Besiktas

The 75-cap Morocco player is itching to leave. He’s thought to be available for just £4 million, with Besiktas not willing to budge on that valuation of their experienced player.

Forest have been linked with a lot of central defenders already this summer. The latest link came today when Taylor Harwood-Bellis was mentioned, with the Manchester City player a wanted man.

At 33, Saiss would perhaps be an underwhelming signing. Still, if the Reds do have to cut their cloth accordingly this summer the experienced player might be fancied to do a job.

Forest have had joy with experienced players previously. Most recently Felipe, Willy Boly and Keylor Navas have all been added and produced the good when called upon.

With Saiss looking for a quick exit, perhaps this will once again alert Forest towards his availability.
