Nottingham Forest have been in talks to sign Botafogo striker Matheus Nascimento and it’s now been claimed that a deal could be close. The Reds are desperate to bolster their forward line this summer as they prepare for another crack at the Premier League.

According to Sky Sports, they are suggesting that a deal could be close to completion. The player is thought to be valued at around £15 million, with Sporting Lisbon interested in a deal this summer.

Nascimento is currently playing for Botafogo. They’re the runaway leaders in Brazil, although it looks unlikely that he will be there to see out a title winner.

Even if Forest don’t sign him, it’s hard to imagine he’s still with his current club when the transfer window closes. At 19, he has a burgeoning reputation and is deemed a wonderkid.

Forest definitely need a new striker. Taiwo Awoniyi top-scored last season but Emmanuel Dennis and Sam Surridge could both be sold before the season starts.

Nascimento has been a wanted man for a little while, with Forest the latest to be in the race. Just 12 months ago, he was heavily linked with a move to Real Madrid and this might be an exciting signing for the Reds.

Forest apparently close to signing Nascimento – but things seem unclear

As with every link at this time of the year, there are a lot of things being said. Some believe he’s close to Forest, hence this report; with others still expecting him to sign for Sporting Lisbon.

Sky Sports have now made this claim and the player could be an ideal player. He has played some senior football and it’s clear that he’s destined for big things in the game.

Whatever will be, will be with this one. Nascimento looks certain to move but among the Forest fan base, there might be some uncertainty over just how close it is to completion.

Hopefully, Forest can get Nascimento can get this one over the line. He would join a healthy contingent of Brazilians at the club, with Danilo, Felipe and Gustavo Scarpa all in place.
