Nottingham Forest are keen to sign Manchester United player Anthony Elanga this summer but he could now cost more than originally anticipated. Everton are also keen on landing the winger this month with the player set to leave Old Trafford.

According to the Manchester Evening News, United had been prepared to let Elanga go for £10 million. Now, however, the interest from Forest and Everton is starting to drive his price up once again.

The Sweden international will be keen to leave Old Trafford this summer. He’s not found first-team football easy to come by and started just seven games in all competitions during 2022/23.

Elanga is a product of the United youth academy. He’s played for the club 55 times in total, scoring four goals and claiming as many assists for the Red Devils.

It’s hard to imagine the 21-year-old staying at Old Trafford beyond this summer. The player will want to be playing regularly and he will fancy doing that with Forest or Everton.

Elanga is a regular in the Sweden squad these days. He will hope that a move to play regular football can help him hold down a place in Janne Andersson’s starting eleven more often than not.

Forest keen to sign Elanga but the price has gone up

Things don’t half move slowly when United are involved. Elanga could be the latest saga involving the Red Devils and Forest, with Dean Henderson’s move to the City Ground taking some time.

Elanga could prove an interesting signing. His record is hardly glowing at Old Trafford but had the fee been £10 million, he might not have proved a bad signing.

With the price increasing Forest might choose to look elsewhere. They’ve also been looking at Carlos Borges and Callum Hudson-Odoi, with both of those players likely to be more attractive additions.

Elanga has been praised in the past though. Ole Gunnar Solskjaer called him ‘electric’ when he was in charge of United and he is blessed with blistering pace.

Forest will target quality over quantity this season. Elanga would have a lot to prove but given that he’s a young talent, Steve Cooper could work wonders with him.
