Nottingham Forest are interested in signing Genk midfielder Bryan Heynen this summer. The Reds will do battle with Bournemouth for his services, with the player considering an exit.
According to the Belgian news outlet HLN, the player is now seriously weighing up a departure from Genk. The midfielder has spent his entire career with the club and may be considering a new chapter.

Heynen is currently the captain at Genk. He showcases strong leadership qualities and normally operates in the defensive midfield role for his current club.
In 225 appearances for the first team, he’s scored 27 goals and also registered 27 assists and in recent years he’s really improved on that aspect.
During 2022/23, he scored 11 goals and claimed seven assists for Genk. He also showcased his combative qualities by collecting eight yellow cards.

Heynen might prove to be a pretty decent addition to the Forest ranks. Clearly, he feels like the time might be right to move on from his current club and a top European league would be in his sights.
Bournemouth will provide some stiff competition. They’re trying to improve on their decent campaign during 2022/23 and will want to avoid a relegation battle this time around.
Forest interested in signing Heynen
The player would definitely arrive at the City Ground as an unknown quantity. He does, however, have plenty of senior experience and that could prove very useful.
As the captain of Genk, Heynan is clearly a respected player and his leadership attributes could help Forest on and off the field.
At 26 he will be approaching his peak and any team that does land him this summer will be getting him ahead of his best years.

Rumour rating: 7/10 – We think there is a bit to like about this deal. Taking a club’s captain says a lot about a player and that is definitely a tick in the right box.
Heynen hasn’t played in a top European league and that does stop this rating from being any higher really.
Still, his numbers for a midfielder were exceptional last season and this deal would certainly be an intriguing one.
