Dean Henderson is the player that Nottingham Forest are pushing the hardest to sign right now. The Reds are desperate to land the 26-year-old and things are progressing behind the scenes.
According to The Athletic, the man who was on loan at Forest last season is the player that the club are keen to get over the line first. A goalkeeper is high on the list at the City Ground, with the Reds currently without a senior stopper.

Henderson was instrumental during the first half of the 2022/23 campaign. He signed on loan from Manchester United and kept six clean sheets in 20 appearances; the most of any custodian outside of the top six during that period.
In January, disaster struck for the United loanee. He took a routine goal-kick during a 2-0 win over Leicester and tore his thigh which meant that he would miss the remainder of the campaign.
Henderson stuck around at the City Ground though. He did his rehabilitation at the football club and could often be found cheering his teammates on from the stands on a matchday.

The goalkeeper is thought to be keen on a return to Forest this summer. However, it was announced yesterday that he has been named in the Manchester United squad for their pre-season tour to the USA.
Henderson has earned praise throughout his career. His goalkeeping coach when he was a youngster at Carlisle called him ‘exceptional’ and tipped him for big things in the professional game.
Henderson is the player Forest are pushing hardest to sign
It’s good news that Forest are still active in the race to sign Henderson this summer. The club shouldn’t leave things much longer though and if they want the goalkeeper they need to pay what United want.
The Reds have played two friendlies so far, with George Shelvey between the posts. Ethan Horvath is a senior goalkeeper on the Forest books but he’s currently nursing an injury from last season.

Forest have work to do in the transfer market. They need a number of new additions but getting their goalkeeper sorted now needs to be one as a matter of urgency, with Henderson the number one target.
The club looks to be pressing ahead with this one. They won’t want to get tangled in complicated negotiations with United and hopefully, the two clubs can agree on a deal that suits for Henderson to join Forest.
