They say that 24 hours is a long time in football. When it comes to talking about the Dean Henderson to Nottingham Forest saga, it feels even longer.

Last night, a report claimed that Forest had made a big decision. An exclusive from TEAMtalk suggested that the Reds were ready to walk away from the 26-year-old.

Like a scorned ex, the Reds were apparently ready to leave their former loanee love in the wilderness at Old Trafford after their signing of Andre Onana.

That would have seemed harsh on Henderson. Although he’s gone on the pre-season tour to the USA, he will know that his days as a United player are numbered.

Fast forward about 12 hours, however, and all is rosy in the world again. Football Transfers have claimed today that Henderson to Forest could be all systems go.

They believe that talks have resumed between Forest and Manchester United and that a deal for Henderson will eventually be completed.

It’s been report after report on a daily basis regarding Henderson to Forest. Frankly, it’s been tiresome, with nobody seemingly having a clue what will happen.

Will Henderson sign for Forest this summer?

This is the million-dollar question. Our gut feeling is that eventually, a deal will be struck between the two clubs for Henderson to return to Forest.

However, that is us guessing. As supporters of the football club, we think it makes sense but we’re not going to start reporting that we know what is happening. We’re not convinced that anyone does!

Steve Cooper likes Henderson, we know that much. He was a big fan of his last season and quickly identified him as a top target when Brice Samba decided to leave.

Would Henderson be a good signing for Forest?

If the price is right, absolutely! Another report earlier this summer claimed that Forest wanted to secure a lower price given that he’s on the way back from a serious injury.

There isn’t anything wrong with that – although United might suggest otherwise. They will see him as a solid goalkeeper who at 26 will only get better and he’s made an appearance for England.

If a deal can be struck, Forest might hit the jackpot. Henderson would be a signing that would show some genuine forward planning and he could be the club’s number one for many years.

The player has been called ‘insane’ previously. At Forest he made 20 appearances and kept six clean sheets for the club; the most of anyone outside the top six during that period.

Henderson is also a fan favourite and that shouldn’t be discounted. With fans getting tetchy over a lack of activity, bringing the United man to Forest would put some smiles back on some disgruntled faces.
