Sky Sports have just delivered an update on Nottingham Forest and their chase to sign Arsenal goalkeeper Matt Turner and Manchester United man Dean Henderson.

The Reds are chasing two goalkeepers before the end of the transfer window. Ethan Horvath and George Shelvey are the two custodians currently in place but neither has played in the Premier League.

Turner was first linked with the club last night. Sky Sports now claim that talks are ongoing with Arsenal over Forest landing the USA captain before the window closes.

In another interesting piece of information, Sky now believes that Forest are edging closer to the signing of Henderson; with an initial loan deal likely to take place.

The Reds desperately fancy signing the United man. However, the two clubs had been unable to agree on a fee, despite Henderson wanting to return.

He spent last season on loan at the City Ground. The 26-year-old made 20 appearances for the Reds and kept six clean sheets before a thigh injury curtailed his season in January.

The link to Turner is an intriguing one. He’s only made seven appearances for Arsenal and has largely been considered an understudy to Aaron Ramsdale.

Mikel Arteta is a huge fan of Turner though. He called him ‘phenomenal’ last season, although it seems he is now keen to offload his backup goalkeeper.

It would be really positive if Forest could get their two goalkeepers for next season sorted as a matter of urgency. It’s a key area that Steve Cooper needs to fill as a matter of urgency.

Henderson would definitely be the choice of the fans. He was heavily invested with the club last season and could regularly be found watching the Reds when they were fighting relegation.

Turner, however, shouldn’t be discounted. He’s a proven goalkeeper and at 29-years-old, he’s now captaining his country and is considered the number-one stopper on the international stage.

One way or another, Forest are ramping up their efforts to sign a new goalkeeper. Hopefully, by the end of the week, the Reds have bolstered their ranks with at least one of their two goalkeeping targets.
