Real Salt Lake have agreed a deal with Nottingham Forest for the permanent signing of Braian Ojeda. The player has been on loan with the MLS franchise but he’s not set to commit his future to the club.

According to MLS expert Taylor Twellman, the deal is close to being completed. Ojeda will leave the City Ground having made just three appearances in all competitions for Forest.

The Paraguayan performer signed for the Reds ahead of the 2021/22 campaign. He was clearly a Dane Murphy addition, given that he fitted the profile of a young player with lots of potential.

Ojeda just hasn’t really made the grade in England. In his three appearances, he’s not really done a deal wrong but at the same time, he’s not really offered much either.

Now, he has a chance to join Real Salt Lake on a permanent deal. He’s made 34 appearances for them in the MLS and he’s largely played as a conventional central midfielder.

The player has seven caps for Paraguay to his name. He will hope that by sticking in the MLS, he can play the required amount of football to ensure he maintains his status on the international stage.

The Reds are wise to cash in on Ojeda. Although it’s unlikely that they will recoup much on the international, it’s another player off the wage budget ahead of the new season.

Forest need to get several more players out of the door. The squad is very bloated and that’s perhaps what is stopping more incoming activity taking place at the City Ground.

Ojeda is 23-years-old now. When Forest signed him he was 21 and perhaps the club had hoped that he would develop a little bit better than he has.

The youngster will now have a chance to make a solid career for himself. He won’t live long in the memory of the Forest faithful and this move looks like a good one for all parties.
