Adrien Truffert is set to turn down the chance to join Nottingham Forest and sign a new contract with Rennes. The Reds had hoped to sign the left-back as they bid to replace Renan Lodi before the season starts.
The talented player was on the shortlist of targets at the City Ground. He was linked with a move to the club but according to Foot Mercato, the 21-year-old will now pen an extension to stay at the Ligue 1 outfit.

Truffert would have been an attractive signing, to say the least. He fits the profile of the type of player that Steve Cooper would sign but now it looks like being a case of back to the drawing board for the Reds.
Forest have been looking for a left-back all summer. Ismail Jakobs is another player who has been linked with the club, whilst Ola Aina has already been signed as a versatile option to the squad.
Truffert would have been viewed as a quality addition to the squad. Despite his tender years, he’s made 113 appearances for Rennes at senior level and naturally, he would have been a good signing.

Forest will have a list of targets though. They will now have to scrub Truffert from their shortlist and focus on adding another player to their ranks before they face Arsenal a week on Saturday.
Truffert set to sign new deal at Rennes after Forest interest
As Queen famously said, this looks like another one to bite the dust! Forest have been extremely frustrating in the transfer window this summer and the club really needs to get moving now.

Truffert would have arrived as an unknown quantity at the City Ground. He would have come with lots of potential, however, and more crucially he wouldn’t have cost the club a fortune.
The Reds must park this one very quickly. Truffert has now rejected a move to Forest and he’s expected to sign a new contract with his current club in the coming days.
