Chelsea are now considering making a move to sign Nottingham Forest target Tyler Adams from Leeds United. The Reds are keen to sign a defensive midfielder before the season starts, with the American in their sights.

According to the Daily Mail, Chelsea are now in the race to sign the player who is currently injured. Mauricio Pochettino is keen to bolster his midfielder and Adams is on the radar.

Forest are still desperately trying to strengthen their own squad. A defensive midfielder is thought to be the priority and Ibrahim Sangare is the number one target.

Adams will cost Forest £32 million though and it won’t be an easy deal to do. The player is a fallback option for the Reds and his relegation release clause is thought to be in the region of £20 million.

The Reds have only signed two players so far this summer. Ola Aina and Anthony Elanga have both checked in and more players will need to follow.

Adams has been on the Forest radar since the season finished. Leeds were relegated back to the Championship and naturally, they will now be at the mercy of Premier League clubs.

The central midfielder is 24-years-old and has 36 caps for his country. He occupies a defensive role in the midfield area and he’s exactly what Forest could do with.

Last season, the player was raved about by Stephen Warnock. After Leeds beat Liverpool 2-1 at Anfield, the pundit called him ‘magnificent’ for his heroic performance.

The Blues have enjoyed a pretty good transfer window so far. They’ve added players in key areas and under Pochettino, they should improve next season.

Forest target Adams is the next in line to sign for Chelsea. However, a deal won’t be easy and it’s complicated by the fact that USA international is currently nursing a hamstring problem.

Forest will be powerless in the Adams race if Chelsea are serious. There is no decision to make for Adams if it comes between moving to Stamford Bridge or the City Ground.

The Reds haven’t currently got Adams at the top of their list of priorities. He would be a useful signing, however, and at £20 million, he’d hardly break the bank either.
