Nottingham Forest have now made an offer to sign Rosario Central striker Alejo Veliz but now he looks set to head to Tottenham instead. The Reds made the first move to land the young Argentine but once again they look to have missed out on a player.
According to Gustavo Yarroch, Tottenham have activated the player’s release clause. He now looks set to head to Spurs, with Ange Postecoglou busy reshaping his squad ahead of the new season.
Veliz is a 19-year-old striker with a burgeoning reputation. During the 2022/23 campaign, he’s scored 11 goals and claimed one assist, with clubs now monitoring his progress with intrigue.
Di Marzio earlier this week claimed that meetings were taking place between Rosario and interested parties. They’re keen to recoup around £13 million for his services; although it’s claimed they could accept slightly less.
Forest probably could do with a new striker. Taiwo Awoniyi was the man tasked with scoring the goals for the club last season and he found the net 11 times in all competitions.

That wasn’t a bad return for his first season in the Premier League. He will be hoping to kick on during 2023/24 and Steve Cooper will want to make sure he has some competition for his place.
Forest set to miss out on Veliz to Tottenham
This would have been an exciting signing for Forest to make, albeit a risky one. The Reds need to get another forward sorted and the 19-year-old has bags of potential.
Given that he’s only ever played in Argentina, it would be interesting. He would have to prove himself in the Premier League but he looks more than capable.
Veliz clearly knows where the back of the net is though. He’s bagged 11 goals this season and seems like a natural-born finisher.
Forest have already allowed Sam Surridge to leave this summer; whilst Emmanuel Dennis could also leave with Atalanta preparing to sign him.
Things are now getting a bit perilous for Forest. There are no signs of any players coming through the door and the squad looks rather poor at present.
Veliz now looks set to sign for Tottenham in the coming weeks. They will bolster their squad with the wonderkid and for Forest it will be a case of back to the drawing board.
