Nottingham Forest have joined the race to sign West Ham United defender Aaron Cresswell. The Reds are now rivalling Wolves to land the left-back before the new season starts.

According to Alan Nixon from The Sun, Forest are now in the race for the 33-year-old. It’s been a summer of upheaval for West Ham with the club yet to sign anyone, despite losing Declan Rice to Arsenal.

Cresswell has been a bit of a stalwart for West Ham over the years. He’s been a regular in the team under David Moyes and has made 331 appearances for the Hammers.

Last season, the player helped West Ham to glory. The Hammers won the UEFA Conference League to cap a fine campaign and they will hope to go again this season.

Forest target Cresswell is unlikely to be with West Ham next season though. He’s now set to move on, with Forest and Wolves vying to sign the experienced player.

In 2021, Cresswell was given some praise by a West Ham podcast. Sam Delaney from U Irons called him ‘sensational’ on air and the left-back is a quality player.

Forest are looking to add another left-back to the ranks, with Cresswell the latest link. Harry Toffolo is facing a ban over betting breaches, whilst Omar Richards is yet to return from injury.

Forest have joined Wolves in race to sign Cresswell

The player has been a fundamental player for West Ham. Cresswell is definitely a decent option for the Reds and he has lots of experience in the Premier League.

Forest desperately need some reinforcements before the season gets underway. A defender or two is an absolute must this week and the Reds will hope to get off to a good start next weekend.

Cresswell is a player who would add some vital experience to the squad. Steve Cooper is hoping his squad will be well-stocked as Forest bid to go better than the 16th-place finish last term.

Rumour rating: 8/10 – There is quite a bit to like about this deal. Not only is Cresswell a steady player but he also takes a mean set-piece.

Forest could definitely do a lot worse than signing Cresswell. He’s an upgrade on the other options in the squad and he could prove to be a very useful signing.
