Nottingham Forest are still in contact with Manchester United over the signing of Dean Henderson. The Reds are keen to get two new goalkeepers to the club before the close of the transfer window.

According to The Athletic, Forest remain in daily contact over completing a deal to sign Henderson. Fabrizio Romano has backed up that claim; suggesting that another round of talks are scheduled for this week.

Forest are very close to bolstering their goalkeeping ranks. Matt Turner is signing from Arsenal, with a medical due to take place later today after a bid was accepted.

The Reds have not had a recognised senior goalkeeper for most of pre-season. George Shelvey has kept goal for most of the friendlies, with Ethan Horvath still at the club.

Now, it would appear that things are moving in the right direction on the goalkeeping front. It would appear that Turner will get over the line today, whilst Henderson remains a key target.

The 26-year-old has been wanted by Forest all summer. He spent the campaign on loan at the City Ground during 2022/23, making 20 appearances and keeping six clean sheets.

Henderson picked up a season-ending injury in January. Instead of returning to United, however, he stayed at Forest and kicked every ball from the stands as they secured Premier League survival.

Forest still in contact with United over Henderson

This one will delight the fan base at the City Ground. Henderson was a very popular figure on Trentside last season and the club desperately want to re-sign him.

However, his thigh problem has held things up somewhat. He won’t be fit to start the campaign and some uncertainties have been reported over the structure of the deal.

Forest want to loan Henderson once again. They do, however, want to include a clause to buy him this time with the transaction to automatically go through when he’s played a certain number of games.

It’s a relief that talks are still ongoing. Henderson has been called ‘insane’ in the past by a teammate of his and at 26, he’d be a very sound investment from a Forest perspective.
