Nottingham Forest are set to announce the signing of Matt Turner from Arsenal. The Reds are ending their long search for a new goalkeeper and an announcement appears imminent.
According to transfer guru Fabrizio Romano, the deal is now very close to being finalised, with the player passing his medical late last night.

Ethan Horvath is the only senior custodian in the ranks, with George Shelvey providing the backup during pre-season. Yesterday, the USA star wasn’t even in the matchday squad, with Steve Cooper seemingly not willing to utilise the player in the Premier League.
Turner has made seven appearances for Arsenal but regular first-team football is likely to be something he would consider. Although Forest still hope to sign Dean Henderson, it’s not certain that he will be fit to start the season.
Mikel Arteta has raved about Turner during his time at Arsenal. He’s called him ‘phenomenal’ before, with the stopper playing particularly well during a game against Bodo/Glimt last season.
MORE FOREST STORIES
Other goalkeepers have been linked with a move to Forest. Over the weekend, Kasper Schmeichel was linked with a move to Forest and that looks like another interesting option.
Romano provides update on Turner to Forest
This would be an interesting signing, to say the least. Forest do need a goalkeeper and Arsenal are now willing to let Turner leave this summer.
They’re set to sign David Raya from Brentford. He will compete with Aaron Ramsdale for the number one spot and Turner has been deemed surplus by Arteta.

The 29-year-old could prove a useful addition to the Forest ranks. He will come in and play regularly in the short term; with Henderson unlikely to sign until later in the window.
This update from Romano is certainly good news. Now, the USA captain will hope to have a good week in training and then hit the ground running when Forest get their season underway.
Turner will get an immediate baptism of fire. He will be between the posts when Forest face Arsenal on Saturday at the Emirates Stadium.
