Wolves are now in the mix to sign Kasper Schmeichel with Nottingham Forest thought to be in the race too. The Reds are keen to add another goalkeeper but they might now need to fight off a Premier League rival.
According to TEAMtalk, Gary O’Neil is keen to strengthen his goalkeeping tanks. Jose Sa is the current number one and he’s actually been linked with a move to the City Ground this summer.

Whoever manages to get a deal for Schmeichel over the line will get themselves quite a goalkeeper. He’s currently with Nice but wasn’t in the squad for their first match of the season on Friday night.
Schmeichel spent 11 years with Leicester. He led the team to their Premier League title win, played in the Champions League and also lifted the FA Cup with the Foxes.
It came as a bit of a shock when he left for Nice in the summer of 2022. He had made 479 appearances for the East Midlands-based outfit but moved to Ligue 1 for a new chapter.

Now, he could be on his way out of the club. He made 46 appearances in all competitions during 2022/23 and managed to keep 13 clean sheets for Nice.
Schmeichel earned lots of praise during his time with Leicester from Brendan Rodgers. He called him ‘brilliant’ and ‘absolutely outstanding’ when he was in charge of him.
Wolves to rival Forest for Schmeichel
This would be a very strong signing for either of the two clubs. Although Schmeichel is now 36-years-old, he still has a lot to offer and he would likely become a real leader of the current Forest group.

Forest are in desperate need of another new goalkeeper. Matt Turner has arrived from Arsenal but it’s hard to back Ethan Horvath or George Shelvey to be a long-term number two.
Schmeichel would come in and instantly push for the number one spot. He’s an established goalkeeper and he might relish one final crack at the Premier League as his career draws towards its conclusion.
