Wycombe Wanderers boss Matt Bloomfield was wowed by Nottingham Forest loanee Dale Taylor as he scored his first goal for the club in the 3-2 win over Leyton Orient last night.

19-year-old Taylor joined the Chairboys on loan earlier in the transfer window, after an impressive stint at Burton Albion last campaign.

The Northern Ireland international was in the right place to tap the ball home from close range after a brilliant pass across the face of goal from Josh Scowen, helping Bloomfield’s side extend their advantage.

What did Matt Bloomfield say about Dale Taylor’s performance?

Speaking to Wycombe’s media team after the game, Bloomfield said, “It was great to see Dale [Taylor] get off the mark because he’s been so close a couple of times.

“He’s such a team player, we saw him on loan at Burton [Albion] last year and we know what a diamond that boy is.

“He’s come in and wanted to do a job for us, so I’m chuffed that he is off the mark.

“Dale looked lively for us tonight, we know he’s going to be a big player for us this season.”

After multiple spells in League One now, it is clear that at only 19, Taylor has a lot of potential. The Northern Irish performer joined Forest from Linfield after he made his senior debut for the club aged just 15.

Taylor was also prominent in the Reds’ U18 FA Youth Cup run which saw Warren Joyce’s side reach the final, ultimately losing to Manchester United at Old Trafford.

The youngster is a great prospect with an exciting future at the City Ground. Hopefully, his goal last night can be his first of many during his loan spell at Adams Park.
