One-time Nottingham Forest target Borna Sosa is in advanced talks to join La Liga side Sevilla.

According to Fabrizio Romano, the Stuttgart left-back has been identified as a replacement for Marcos Acuna who could be joining Premier League side Aston Villa.

Steve Cooper’s side were rumoured to be interested in signing the 25-year-old, but no bid was ever submitted for the wing-back.

Sosa made 30 appearances in all competitions for the Bundesliga side last campaign, scoring twice with multiple clubs all interested in the Croatian’s signature this summer.

However, it appears Sevilla have won the race for the defender who has spent five years at Stuttgart.

What next for Nottingham Forest?

Despite missing out on another target this window, Nottingham Forest are in a good position to land another left-back target.

The club are in talks with Arsenal over a deal for 23-year-old Nuno Tavares, with a loan to buy being discussed.

Cooper’s side are in the market for a new left-wing back after the club failed to retain the services of Renan Lodi on a permanent basis.

Current options Omar Richards and Harry Toffolo are yet to feature this season, with new right-back Ola Aina filling in on the opening day at Arsenal.

As good as Aina was last weekend, another option is still needed in the left-back area.

Despite missing out on Sosa, Reds fans should be positive about a potential deal for Tavares. He’s only 23, bags of potential with Premier League experience under his belt too.
