Former Manchester United and Tottenham Hotspur striker Dimitar Berbatov has made his predictions ahead of Nottingham Forest’s first home game of the season against Sheffield United.

Steve Cooper’s side fell to a narrow 2-1 defeat away at Arsenal, whilst Paul Heckingbottom’s men lost 1-0 at home to Crystal Palace last weekend.

Premier League newcomers United face a tough task staying in the top flight this season, after the departures of key men Iliman Ndiaye and Sander Berge.

Meanwhile, the Reds have reason to be optimistic after a positive second 45 at the Emirates last weekend.

What has Dimitar Berbatov predicted for the game?

Ahead of the game at the City Ground, Berbatov has predicted victory for Cooper’s side.

In his interview in the Metro, he said, “The way Forest saved themselves last season was great and credit to them.

“This season, both teams will be battling for survival but I think Forest will win this weekend.

“Sheffield United were unlucky last time out but they are going to have a tough life in the Premier League.”

Prediction: 2-1.

The Reds face the Blades for the first time since the memorable play-off second leg at the City Ground that saw Brice Samba save now Forest player Morgan Gibbs-White’s penalty in the shootout to send Cooper’s side to Wembley.

Heckingbottom’s side will be looking to make amends tonight, but they may find it difficult at the City Ground, where Nottingham Forest picked up 31 out of their 38 Premier League points last season.
