Nottingham Forest legend Stan Collymore has heaped praise on one Reds star after the 2-1 win over Sheffield United. The game was decided by a Chris Wood goal scored in the 89th minute.
The Blades battled hard in truth. On another day they might have taken more out of the contest and their goal scored by Gustavo Hamer just after half-time was sublime.

On this day, however, it was Forest who won the day. Taiwo Awoniyi started the game emphatically and planted an unstoppable header beyond Wes Foderingham in the first five minutes.
It was the Forest striker who came in for some praise from Collymore. He offered him a thumbs-up on Twitter after he scored his eighth goal in six games for the Reds.
Awoniyi has really come to life in his last handful of games. His goals last season helped the Reds remain in the Premier League and now he’s winning the team points again.

The striker is going to be desperately important to Forest during the 2023/24 campaign. His goals will likely decide the club’s fortunes and the challenge this season will be keeping him fit.
Collymore gives thumbs up to Forest striker Awoniyi
The Reds would dearly love to keep the talisman fit this season. Their fate only went to the penultimate game last season because they lost him for three months of the campaign.
Awoniyi is so important to how Forest play. He’s a big, strong centre-forward and it’s perhaps no coincidence to see Collymore give him the approval after his latest performance.
Collymore and Awoniyi perhaps aren’t too dissimilar. Now, the Nigerian will get to lead the line for another season and at just £18 million, he looks like an absolute steal made by the Reds.
Forest go to Manchester United next. Awoniyi was substituted against Sheffield United and perhaps the Reds had one eye on next week when they made that call in the second half.
