Nottingham Forest-supporting commentator Colin Fray lauded Morgan Gibbs-White for his efforts against Sheffield United on Friday night.

The Reds ran out 2-1 winners over the South Yorkshire-based outfit. Goals from Taiwo Awoniyi and Chris Wood saw Forest home and Gibbs-White did well.

Gibbs-White was making his first City Ground appearance since helping England win the Under-21 European Championships during the summer.

The 23-year-old is clearly the main man at Forest. Gibbs-White was signed last summer from Wolves, costing a fee that could eventually rise to around £40 million.

Given how Gibbs-White has played for Forest so far, it’s hard to grumble at the fee. This season, he will hope to kick on and produce even more goals and assists.

On Friday night, Colin Fray was extremely impressed with the player’s first-half performance as the Reds held a 1-0 lead at the break.

He said live on BBC Radio Nottingham: “Morgan Gibbs-White has been causing absolute havoc in the first half for Forest.”

Fray raves about Forest star Gibbs-White

Gibbs-White is the one man who can help Forest really kick on this season. Along with the goals of Awoniyi, the player is going to be vitally important this season.

United didn’t know what to do with Gibbs-White. It won’t have come as a surprise either given that he spent the 2021/22 campaign on loan at Bramall Lane.

Intriguingly, he didn’t get a great reception from the travelling Blades faithful. They booed him at the start and that seemed to help Gibbs-White perform in the first half.

Although Gibbs-White did fade a little bit in the second half, Forest didn’t play particularly well as a team.

Still, it’s going to be a big season for Forest star Gibbs-White this season. He’s on the cusp of an England call-up and to squeeze into contention he has to start weighing in with even more goals and assists.
