Manchester United are performing a pre-medical on Nottingham Forest linked goalkeeper Altay Bayindir. The process is taking place in Greece, with the Red Devils keen to do their due diligence on the player
AS Marca claimed earlier that a deal for the player to join Forest was close. However, The Athletic claim that United are set to now win the race for the player.

Bayindir does look like the sort of profile that Forest are looking for this summer. At 25-years-old, he’s a year younger than Dean Henderson and it looks as though the Reds are willing to let him head elsewhere now.
It’s believed that United will pay just under £5 million for the player and that would have been decent value for money. The player was Fenerbahce’s number one last season; making 40 appearances for the club in all competitions.
Naturally, the stopper will be compared to Henderson if he signs for Forest. It’s seemed as though the Manchester United man would end up at the City Ground all summer but that doesn’t look to be the case.

The 26-year-old will definitely leave the club if United can get Bayindir over the line. The reports from The Athletic claim that Crystal Palace is the most likely move for the player at this stage.

This looks like an intriguing signing. The player has been with Fenerbahce for four years and it does seem a little bit strange that they’re willing to offload him at such a good price.
Furthermore, Bayindir has made five appearances for his country. As a result, United would be getting themselves an international goalkeeper if they can get this one over the line; leaving Forest to wonder what might have been.

Mesut Ozil raved about the goalkeeper in 2021. He called him ‘special’ after he’d made his debut for the Turkish giants and that proved high praise indeed.
Forest could now turn their attention back to Henderson. Although a move to Palace seems more likely right now, perhaps the Reds will re-enter the race if Bayindir does end up at Old Trafford.
