Speaking on the Garibaldi Red Podcast, TNT Sports commentator Fletcher was full of praise for the defender after his transfer to the City Ground was confirmed.
The commentator has covered plenty of Sevilla games over the last couple of seasons, with Fletcher impressed with Montiel, and his attitude despite being second choice at the Spanish club.

“He played five games in the World Cup, it wasn’t as though he came on and scored the winning pen, he was a key part of that group.
“The problem he has at Sevilla is that he plays behind Jesus Navas, who played his 655th game for the club the other night, even though he’s 37.

“Montiel is a victim of who he’s behind, it’s like being back up to Stuart Pearce back in the day, you just never got a game.
“He’s never let Sevilla down, he’s a World Cup winner so the pedigree with him is there.
“He is an excellent signing for Nottingham Forest in their second Premier League season and looking to consolidate.”
