Nottingham Forest star Anthony Elanga has now made a claim about Cristiano Ronaldo as he prepares to return to Old Trafford this weekend. The Reds added the winger to their ranks for £15 million during the summer transfer window.

Forest have added four players to their ranks this summer. Elanga and Ola Aina were the first, with Matt Turner joining before the season started. Yesterday, the club added a fourth player to their ranks in the shape of World Cup winner Gonzalo Montiel.

Elanga hasn’t started a game for the Reds yet. He came off of the bench in the game against Arsenal and set up a goal for Taiwo Awoniyi, whilst he almost scored his first goal for the Reds when he came on against Sheffield United.

This weekend promises to be a strange situation for Forest man Elanga. He will return to Old Trafford for the first time and he will hope to earn a start for the Reds in the Premier League for the very first time.

Ahead of the game, he’s been discussing his time with United. He claims he learned a lot from the legendary Ronaldo and also namechecked some current Red Devils who taught him a lot.

Elanga told Football Daily: “I played with arguably one of the best players in the world of all time, Cristiano Ronaldo. Obviously, playing with the likes of Bruno and Christian Eriksen. I could go through the whole team, Varane, and Casemiro.

“I learned a lot from them not just on the pitch but off the pitch as well, the discipline and how they look after themselves. Really, I took a lot of things and I’m trying to bring that here and try and do that on a regular basis and the last two games showed what I can do and I just want to keep that momentum going.”

Elanga makes Ronaldo claim after Forest move

The youngster seems like a good character. Forest have gone for quality over quantity this summer and the man signed from Manchester United looks like a good fit for Steve Cooper.

He’s yet to start a game but his time will come. Elanga has looked rapid when called upon for Forest and hopefully, he can start becoming a force from the off sooner rather than later.

At 22-years-old, Forest have signed Elanga ahead of his best years. The £15 million transfer fee is hardly a lot either and this could turn out to be seriously good value for money.
