Nottingham Forest have confirmed the signing of Chelsea midfielder Andrey Santos on a season-long loan.

Santos is a 19-year-old box-to-box midfielder who signed for the Blues from Vasco da Gama back in January of this year. Chelsea allowed the midfielder to stay in Brazil for the remainder of their domestic campaign before returning to Stamford Bridge for pre-season.

It was originally planned that the Brazilian would stay with Chelsea this season, but the signings of Romeo Lavia and Moises Caicedo have seen him fall down the pecking order.

With Chelsea wanting the 19-year-old to gain regular first-team minutes, he has joined Forest until the end of the 2023/24 season.

His arrival means he will be battling it out with the likes of Danilo, Ryan Yates and Orel Mangala for a starting position in a midfield three.

What has Santos said about joining Nottingham Forest?

Upon his arrival this afternoon, Brazilian Santos spoke about his delight to be joining Nottingham Forest.

“I am very happy and excited to be here.

“I know that Forest is a big club, they play good football and they have good players, which is important for me.

“It has always been my dream to play in the Premier League and I can’t wait to enjoy playing.”

It remains unknown whether the 19-year-old was registered in time to play tomorrow, but regardless he is a very good signing and will provide a lot of quality in the Reds’ midfield department.
