Tyrese Fornah is set to swap Nottingham Forest for Derby County, with a deal now thought to be close. The 24-year-old has been deemed surplus to requirements and will now head to the other side of the A52.
This piece of surprising news has been confirmed by The Telegraph journalist John Percy. He’s explained that the deal will see the player go to the Rams in a permanent deal.

The youngster needs to play football and now the League One outfit are set to grant him that wish. Fornah has spent the summer playing friendlies and training with the B-Team on Trentside.
It’s been a frustrating time of things for Fornah. During the 2020/21 campaign, the midfielder was brilliant during a loan spell at Plymouth in League One.
He came back to Forest and was expected to push for a first-team place. Chris Hughton was having none of it though and chose to leave him on the fringes before Steve Cooper eventually loaned him to Shrewsbury.

Last season, the player got a taste of Championship football. He joined Reading and under Paul Ince, he thrived for the Royals despite their relegation to League One.
During his time at the Select Car Leasing Stadium, he earned praise from his manager. Ince called him ‘absolutely outstanding’ and it was perhaps a surprise that Reading didn’t re-sign him.
Forest midfielder Fornah set to join Derby in permanent deal
This will come as a surprise. However, Fornah should be cut a bit of slack from the fan base given that Forest and Derby are now a million miles away from each other in terms of stature.
The Reds are battling it out in the Premier League and have just signed a World Cup winner. Derby on the other hand were dumped out of the Carabao Cup by Blackpool and recently lost at home to Oxford.

At 24, Fornah needs to get some roots put down. He’s a very useful player and Derby are getting themselves a very good signing for their League One campaign.
The player has experience in this division. He’s played for Plymouth and Shrewsbury in the division and Fornah will now emulate Kris Commons and Nathan Tyson in swapping Forest for Derby.
