Manchester United are set to beat Nottingham Forest to the signing of Altay Bayindir. The goalkeeper will sign for the club that defeated Nottingham Forest 3-2 at Old Trafford earlier today.

Fabrizio Romano claimed this evening that the player is already in England and is set to sign for United for a fee of £5 million. He’s currently the Fenerbahce number one but a move to England is imminent.

Dean Henderson will join Crystal Palace on loan for the remainder of the campaign. That will allow this deal to go through and give United a capable deputy to Andre Onana.

It’s believed that United will now pay just under £5 million for the player and that would have been decent value for money. The player was Fenerbahce’s number one last season; making 40 appearances for the club in all competitions.

Forest managed to score twice past Onana and he’s yet to really cement his place as the number one. For Taiwo Awoniyi’s goal in particular, he looked suspect and Erik ten Hag will hope Bayindir can put some pressure on him.

United set to sign Bayindir ahead of Forest

This looks like an intriguing signing for United. The player has been with Fenerbahce for four years and it does seem a little bit strange that they’re willing to offload him at such a good price.

Furthermore, Bayindir has made five appearances for his country. As a result, United would be getting themselves an international goalkeeper if they can get this one over the line; leaving Forest to wonder what might have been.

Mesut Ozil raved about the goalkeeper in 2021. He called him ‘special’ after he’d made his debut for the Turkish giants and that proved high praise indeed.

Forest will now turn their attention back to another goalkeeper. There is no way they can trust Ethan Horvath as a deputy for the remainder of the season and another stopper will likely come in.
