Nottingham Forest are in the mix with West Ham United to sign Argentina defender Marcos Acuna. The player has already seen a move to Aston Villa fall through during the summer transfer window.
The 31-year-old will be allowed to leave Sevilla before the transfer window closes next Friday. According to 90Min, both Premier League clubs are now looking to strengthen their ranks at left-back.

West Ham probably will hold the aces with this one. They will play in the Europa League this term and Acuna won the competition with Sevilla in 2022/23.
That said, Forest will have a familiar face to Acuna in their dressing room. Right-sided defender Gonzalo Montiel has recently signed for the club and the pair know each other well.
Acuna has been at Sevilla since 2020 when he checked in from Sporting Lisbon. He’s been a big player for the La Liga outfit, making 126 appearances and winning trophies with the club.
The experienced performer was part of the Argentina squad that won the World Cup. He’s made 53 appearances for the national team in total, including six at the Qatar tournament last winter.
Forest have added Ola Aina this summer. Squawka shows, however, that Acuna won more tackles than the player last season and he might provide an upgrade in that sense.
Forest and West Ham eyeing a move for Acuna
Forest would welcome the chance to sign Acuna. He’s actually going to be out injured for a couple of weeks and if he does sign he won’t play until after the international break.
Acuna would be a more experienced player added to the ranks. That might not necessarily be a bad thing though and he’d complement a young squad just nicely.

It’s perhaps a small worry that he’s currently injured. However, that’s not expected to be serious and he should be back playing very soon after the forthcoming break.
Acuna signing for Forest would be a welcome boost. It would see them add a natural wing-back and another World Cup winner would hardly be a bad thing on Trentside.
