Nottingham Forest target Davinson Sanchez missed a key penalty last night, that saw Tottenham Hotspur crash out of the Carabao Cup against Fulham.

The Colombian centre-back played 90 minutes, as the game ended 1-1 before going to the dreaded spot kicks.

27-year-old Sanchez took Spurs’ third penalty, with his tame effort easily saved by Marek Rodak.

His miss would prove to be the difference, as Fulham slotted home their remaining two penalties to win the shootout 5-3, securing their place in the third round.

Could Sanchez join Nottingham Forest?

Steve Cooper’s side are looking for reinforcements at the back before the closure of the summer transfer window.

Moussa Niakhate is back around the squad after recovering from a dislocated elbow, whilst Brazilian central defender Felipe is yet to feature for the Reds this season, but has been pictured back in first-team training.

Corinthians’ Brazilian centre-back Murillo has completed a medical at the club, with the 21-year-old set to join for a fee in the region of £14 million.

The Reds may yet target another central defender before the window closes on Friday night, with Sanchez remaining a potential option.

Any deal for the Colombian may coincide with Forest’s Brennan Johnson going the other way, in a cash plus Sanchez deal, with Nottingham Forest wanting at least £50 million for their Welsh international.
