Nottingham Forest are now pushing to sign Chelsea defender Malang Sarr before the transfer window closes on Friday. The Reds are pushing the boat out this week and the Blues player is the latest to be linked.
According to Foot Mercato, the Reds could sign the Chelsea player on a free transfer. The Blues have been very active this summer and it looks unlikely that Sarr will feature much under Mauricio Pochettino.

The 24-year-old has failed to make his mark at Chelsea. He signed for the club from Nice back in 2020 but has since been out on loan with Porto and Monaco.
Sarr has played just 21 times for Chelsea since signing for the club. He’s now looking to move on and ultimately, the Stamford Bridge-based outfit now want him gone.
The player was praised by Thomas Tuchel back when he was in charge of Chelsea. He called him ‘reliable’ and praised him for his commitment to the cause when he was out of the team.

Sarr could prove to be an interesting signing for the Reds. It’s clear that the club are targeting another centre-back after the signing of Murillo who is set to join from Corinthians.
Forest now pushing to sign Sarr from Chelsea
Another defender link and another link to a left-footed defender. Sarr typically plays as a centre-back but he can also operate as a left-back if he’s called upon.
It seems clear which side of the defensive unit Forest are looking to strengthen. It also seems as though Forest are planning for the future with some of these links.
Sarr has played plenty of football for his previous clubs. He’s made 115 appearances in Ligue 1 and he’s also played 19 games for Porto.

Rumour rating: 7/10 – Given that his time at Chelsea has not been successful, some cynics might hold reservations and that is fine.
However, on a free transfer, Sarr would be relatively risk-free and his current £34,000-a-week wage would be no problem at all.
Forest might have some more pressing irons in the fire ahead of Friday’s deadline but this wouldn’t be the worst signing for the club.
