Nottingham Forest are set to announce the signing of Benfica goalkeeper Odysseas Vlachodimos. The player has been spotted arriving at the City Ground after his medical went through without issue.

According to Rob Dorsett from Sky Sports, the Reds have now completed this deal. All that remains is the official announcement to come from within the club.

Vlachodimos has been Benfica’s number one goalkeeper for many years. He arrived from Panathinaikos and has helped the club win two top-flight titles during his time at the club.

Forest are going to sign the goalkeeper for around £10 million. He leaves the Portuguese giants after making 225 appearances for the club and he leaves following a fall down the pecking order.

Valchodimos becomes the second signing of the summer between the posts for Forest. They completed a deal for Matt Turner from Arsenal before the season started and he’s kept goal in the opening weeks of the season.

Now, he has competition. The man with 33 caps for Greece won’t have been signed to play second fiddle. As a result, he will fancy taking the gloves away from him.

Vlachodios has sought assurances from the Marinakis family before signing. He has no desire to go straight on loan to Olympiacos and he will now compete for a place at Forest.

This deal looks like an exciting one. Vlachidimos is one of European football’s top goalkeepers and it will be fascinating to see whether he can take the gloves off of Turner.
