Sangare was Forest’s number-one target all summer. They had to leave it until deadline day but they did finally get the Ivorian over the line.

Forest sold Brennan Johnson to Tottenham on the final day of the window. The funds raised did allow the Reds to get Sangare over the line, however.

Townsend thinks Forest have got some really good players at the club. He spent the majority of the time talking about Sanagre and he rates him highly.

He said live on TalkSPORT: “Me and Ally were talking about Forest. It was a great win against Chelsea and they played really well.

“I tell you what as well, they’ve signed one lad, Ibrahim Sangare. He’s a really good player, he’s outstanding.

“Me and Ally have watched him a bit with PSV playing Rangers recently and he’s been really good to watch.”

It does look as though Forest might have got themselves a piece of real quality here. Sangare could quickly become a fan favourite on Trentside.

The 25-year-old had been with PSV since 2020. He left the Eredivisie outfit just days after helping them reach the group stages of the Champions League.

Forest have completed a real coup with Sangare. The Reds felt for a long time that they might be left disappointed but in the end, he agreed to the deal.

Now, the proof will be in the performances. Sangare should be tailor-made for the Premier League and Forest will hope to see some seriously good performances from their stellar signing.
