Nottingham Forest were keen to sign Kasper Schmeichel in the summer but now he’s set for Anderlecht. The Reds signed Matt Turner and Odysseas Vlachodimos during the transfer window instead.
According to the Daily Mail, the experienced stopper is now heading to Belgium. He will pen a one-year deal after leaving Nice on a free transfer.

The Reds would have completed the signing of a wonderful player had they landed the Premier League winner. He has bags of experience in the top division and his leadership qualities would have been evident.
Schmeichel spent 11 years with Leicester. He led the team to their Premier League title win, played in the Champions League and also lifted the FA Cup with the Foxes.
It came as a bit of a shock when he left for Nice in the summer of 2022. He had made 479 appearances for the East Midlands-based outfit but moved to Ligue 1 for a new chapter.

Now, he will head to Anderlecht to try and improve their fortunes. They’ve already been knocked out of Europe this season and things haven’t started particularly great.
Schmeichel earned lots of praise during his time with Leicester from Brendan Rodgers. He called him ‘brilliant’ and ‘absolutely outstanding’ when he was in charge of him.
Forest target Schmeichel set for Anderlecht
Although Schmeichel is now 36-years-old, he still has a lot to offer and he will likely become a real leader of the Anderlecht team.

Forest won’t be too fussy, however. They landed two international goalkeepers of their own in the transfer window and they’re well-stocked for the season ahead.
Schmeichel will feel he can still play for another couple of years. Even given his advancing years, he’d have been useful for Forest but they will feel that they’ve signed options with a bit more left in the tank than the Premier League winner.
