Nottingham Forest tried to sign Davinson Sanchez on more than one occasion this summer. Now, he’s hooked himself up with a new club.

The Tottenham defender fell down the pecking order under Ange Postecoglou. Now, the Colombian enforcer has headed to Turkey to sign for Galatasaray.

Forest were desperately keen to sign a new centre-back. In the end, they got two, with Murillo and Andrew Omobamidele joining the Reds.

Sanchez was thought to be under consideration by Forest. Tottenham actually tried to include him and Eric Dier in their negotiations for Brennan Johnson.

The Reds weren’t going to entertain anything other than cash for their star boy, however. Instead, Forest tried to sign him outright but moved on to other options.

Sanchez, 27, has signed for Galatasaray for £12.8 million. He will likely have been handed a big contract at the club and perhaps Forest were wise not to add him.

The Reds do have a number of centre-backs. Murillo and Omobamidele join Joe Worrall, Scott McKenna, Felipe, Willy Boly and Moussa Niakhate.

Forest target Sanchez gets new club

The Reds were busy trying to sign the Tottenham man all summer. In truth, it looks as though the North Londoners were simply trying to use the defender for some leverage.

They desperately wanted to sign Johnson in the summer. In the end, they got their man and Forest did well to wait for a full cash payment rather than accepting their cast-offs.

Signing Sanchez wouldn’t have cost the Reds a fortune. However, adding younger players with one eye on the future certainly makes better business sense.

Sanchez would have perhaps been a decent signing for Forest. Ultimately, however, the Reds have signed solid players and they shouldn’t regret this one too much.
