Nottingham Forest are already eyeing another signing in January, with Guido Rodriguez firmly on the radar. The Reds tried to sign the Real Betis player this summer but ultimately the club preferred other options.

According to Estadio Deportivo, Forest won’t be on their own in the race to sign the star man. Barcelona, Lyon and Fenerbahce are all keen to sign the 29-year-old.

Rodriguez is a defensive midfielder. He was on the shortlist for Forest this summer, although the club opted to sign Ibrahim Sangare and Nicolas Dominguez instead.

Forest might have done well to wait with this one. The experienced performer will be out of contract next summer and the Reds could land him on a free transfer. If they sign him in January, there could be a bargain to be had.

The Argentina international has made 29 appearances for his country. He’s been with Real Betis since 2020 when he signed from America of the Mexican top flight.

Forest signed 13 new players in the summer. Seven of those were signed and sealed on transfer deadline day and already it seems as though Forest are looking ahead to the next window.

The Reds have a more meticulous approach to their shopping these days. With that in mind, it would appear that the club are already prepped and ready for January.

Forest eyeing move for Rodriguez

Real Betis will have a big decision to make during January. If the player doesn’t sign a new contract, clubs will fancy making a move to sign him in January.

Rodriguez is a solid performer and a proven international midfielder. He will already know Dominguez from the national setup and that could sway him to sign for Forest.

The Reds might fancy getting themselves a bit of a bargain. However, with Barcelona and Lyon in the race, landing the experienced performer won’t come easily.
